The largest fine ever has been imposed through the civil court on a licencee for illegally showing Sky Sports to her customers. How much? well just a small matter of £85,307.17p (yes, eighty five thousand!).
The licencee was using a residential viewing card from Ireland and did not have a commercial viewing agreement with Sky via their Business department.
Sky won their case based on the fact that no business agreement was in place and that their copyright was being infringed. It would seem that they will always win such a case and will always pursue offenders. The Licencee has subsequently left the pub!
The moral of the story? Get licensed!
